WATERLOO, Ontario, April 20, 2022 -- Descartes Systems Group, the global leader in uniting logistics-intensive businesses in commerce, announced the opening of a new software development facility in Sorel-Tracy, QC that will be capable of accommodating up to 100 employees. The facility is one of four Descartes development facilities located around the world.
“As a long-standing and growing Canadian technology company, we’re excited to invest in our new workspace in Sorel-Tracy,” said Yan Parenteau, VP Mobility Solutions at Descartes. “Descartes has a proven track record of success in managing innovative software development centers and we’re pleased to have the support of local government and business communities as we expand to better serve our customers.”
Research and development efforts at the new facility will initially focus on Descartes’ routing, mobile and telematics solution suite, the industry’s most comprehensive offering of integrated route planning, execution, mobile and performance monitoring solutions. Future initiatives include an even broader range of applications in additional Descartes solutions areas, such as transportation management, ecommerce shipping and fulfillment, global trade intelligence, customs and regulatory compliance and broker/forwarder enterprise systems.
Descartes will formally open the new facility in June with a tour of the operations for representatives from Sorel-Tracy’s local government and business communities.
“We look forward to building out development operations in Sorel-Tracy,” said Raimond Diederik, Executive Vice President, Information Services at Descartes. “This is probably the most exciting time in the history of supply chain management with strategies, tactics and technologies changing rapidly. As one of the leading technology companies in this industry, Descartes remains focused on customer success and our ongoing investments in research and development help us to continuously innovate for over 24,000 customers worldwide.”
