ATLANTA, Georgia, September 26, 2024 -- Descartes Systems Group, the global leader in uniting logistics-intensive businesses in commerce, will showcase numerous technology innovations to its software suite for customs brokers, freight forwarders and air cargo carriers at Descartes’ Innovation Forum event, which takes place in Chicago, Illinois from October 8-10, 2024. Innovations to Descartes’ solution suite for these logistics service providers (LSP) digitize processes to better streamline the movement of goods, simplify customs compliance and help ensure cargo security.
“LSPs navigate an increasingly complex global trade landscape,” said Scott Sangster, General Manager, Global Logistics Service Providers at Descartes. “They grapple with supply chain and logistics disruptions stemming from many factors, including geopolitical conflict, labor issues, cyber security, government sanctions and evolving compliance requirements. Building on decades of technology leadership in the shipping industry, our continued innovation delivers proven solutions that can help reduce the impact of these challenges on our customers, while allowing them to manage the entire shipment lifecycle for their customers in a more secure and efficient manner.”
Descartes’ logistics service provider solution suite innovation and enhancements include:
- Enhanced digitization and automation to increase operational efficiencies and help companies scale with growth. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven cloud-based solutions automatically convert structured and unstructured data from paper-based business documents into digitized customs and security filings. This helps drive more productive operational processes, faster filing practices and greater data accuracy by eliminating manual and often duplicate data entry.
- Increased De Minimis compliance and security that facilitates legitimate trade. Descartes’ proactive participation with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as they consider and implement changes to current legislation associated with Air Cargo Advance Screening (ACAS) and Section 321 Type 86 Pilot programs helps support customers with solutions designed to enable fair and legal ecommerce trade while protecting the country from illicit or dangerous goods.
- Advanced tracking capabilities to improve shipment and customer visibility. Combining RFID-based asset tracking solutions with Descartes’ Bluetooth® Low Energy real-time IoT tracking platform gives global airlines and ground handlers a broader set of software and hardware solutions to better manage cargo, compliance and air tracking operations. New ways of providing customers with access to data help LSPs facilitate greater customer collaboration and shipper visibility.
- Expanded integrations with ocean and air carriers, which enable centralized access to more booking options. New integrations with spot rate products from air and ocean carriers allow customers to quote and compare a more comprehensive list of current shipping options from a centralized location. New automated workflows for the booking process and visibility into shipment status relieve customers of some of the most labor-intensive aspects of their business so they can focus on higher impact activities.
