What is Descartes Go-webEDI?
Descartes Go-webEDI is a stand-alone electronic data interchange (EDI) solution by Descartes, designed to facilitate the electronic exchange of orders, despatch advices, invoices, and pallet labels between trading partners via a secure web browser interface. It operates through the Descartes Global Logistics Network™ (GLN), supporting multiple EDI message formats for industries such as Food, Health & Beauty, DIY, and more.
How do I receive orders in Descartes Go-webEDI?
Once your trading partner sends an order, you will receive a notification email if you've configured your notification settings. Orders appear in your "Received Orders" folder in your Go-webEDI mailbox. You can view, print, or process these orders directly through the web interface.
Can I create despatch advices and invoices?
Yes, Descartes Go-webEDI allows you to create despatch advices and invoices based on received orders. You can either generate despatch advices directly from orders or create them manually. Likewise, invoices can be created directly from orders or despatch advices and are fully editable before sending.
How can I create and print pallet labels?
Descartes Go-webEDI enables users to create GS1-certified pallet labels (both homogeneous and heterogeneous). Pallet labels are generated manually or using details from your despatch advice, and they can be printed via the platform using pre-configured settings such as your company code and Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC).
What are despatch units and how are they managed?
Despatch units are collections of (returnable) transport items and goods being delivered. Each unit can be assigned a unique SSCC to enable tracking and tracing. Descartes Go-webEDI allows you to create, edit, and manage despatch units within despatch advices, supporting both simple (homogeneous) and complex (heterogeneous) shipping scenarios.
What notifications will I receive when using Descartes Go-webEDI?
You will receive email notifications when new orders arrive in your Descartes Go-webEDI mailbox. Who is receiving the notifications can be customized by adding the appropriate email addresses in the "Options" menu.
Can I manage multiple mailboxes with Descartes Go-webEDI?
Yes, Descartes Go-webEDI supports users managing multiple mailboxes. Each mailbox has its own set of folders for orders, despatch advices, invoices, and archived messages, and you can switch between them as needed.
What is the retention period for messages?
Messages (orders, despatch advices, invoices, etc.) are stored in Descartes Go-webEDI for a maximum period of one year. After this period, the messages are automatically archived and will no longer be accessible through the active folders.
Can I send a despatch advice without an SSCC?
Yes, it is possible to send a despatch advice without an SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code), but this requires bilateral agreement with your customer. Despatch advices without SSCC are typically used in direct delivery scenarios.
How do I manage partners and item?
Descartes Go-webEDI provides tools for managing partners and items. You can add, edit, and delete your own partners and items, though partners and items maintained centrally by Descartes cannot be modified. You can also specify article prices for specific trading partners.
How can I create a credit note in Descartes Go-webEDI?
You can create a credit note by selecting a previously sent invoice from the "Sent Invoices" or "Archived Invoices" folders and using the "Create Credit Note" option. The system automatically transfers the relevant data from the original invoice to the credit note with negative values.
