The Brexit debate has caused much confusion amongst UK organisations, but what is absolutely certain is that Brexit will change and impact a number of processes for businesses that import and export goods between the UK and the EU – businesses must prepare now before it is too late.
WMB Logistics, specialists in bike transport, storage and asset management, approached Descartes as it was deeply concerned with the impact Brexit could have on its business. For WMB logistics, transporting motorcycles is core to its business – it imports motorcycles from all across the EU from some of the finest brands in the industry including KTM, based in Austria. So, with time quickly running out, it was critical that the company was Brexit ready ahead of the deadline, to ensure consistency for its operations, and crucially – its international clients.
WMB Logistics was therefore looking to deploy its own customs filing software to ensure compliance with customs regulations and procedures following the UK’s planned departure from the EU on the 31st October. The company has now implemented Descartes’ e-customs software, and team members have undertaken extensive training to ensure that they are fully prepared for the impending consequences of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.
Paul Lusty, Director of WMB Logistics comments how the company is now Brexit ready: “Now that we have the Descartes solution in place, on day one of Brexit we are fully equipped to continue to run a seamless and efficient business operation. Descartes has provided us with expert help and advice in what is a particularly uncertain and potentially disruptive environment, but we’re confident that we now have the right software and training in place to prevent any business interruption that Brexit might cause.”
