WATERLOO, Ontario, March 25, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Descartes Systems Group (DSGX) (DSG.TO), the global leader in uniting logistics-intensive businesses in commerce, announced that it has selected Microsoft Azure to power its software solutions that help manufacturers, retailers, distributors and logistics services providers to create more responsive, productive and compliant supply chain operations.
Descartes currently uses Azure services in certain business segments, such as its Descartes Datamyne™ Market Insight solutions, to facilitate market research and business insight based upon import and export data from the world’s largest searchable trade database. Descartes also uses Azure services with Descartes MacroPoint™, one of the logistics industry’s largest real-time freight tracking platforms.
Descartes plans on expanding the use of Azure services across its solutions by incorporating Azure AI, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Server Managed Instance Database, and Microsoft Power BI to support machine learning, data processing and analysis, and data visualization. These additional Azure services can help customers in diverse industries better identify and visualize more meaningful, timely and accurate business insights, and make more informed, data-driven decisions across the billions of logistics transactions Descartes customers process every year.
“We selected Microsoft Azure for its impressive features, scalability and breath of solutions, and are excited at the value Microsoft’s solutions bring to our logistics solutions,” said Ken Wood, EVP of Product Management at Descartes. “The movement of goods, both domestically and internationally and across multiple modes of transportation, generates massive amounts of data associated with logistics transactions. As supply chain management becomes even more important to companies’ financial success, the ability to derive greater business value from logistics data can help organizations develop strategies and tactics to spur growth and differentiate themselves.”
Suzanne Gagliese, VP One Commercial Partner, at Microsoft said, “We are pleased to see companies like Descartes add value by integrating its cloud-based solutions with Microsoft Azure. The deep product integration with Descartes will help to drive the technology-enabled capabilities that its global customers can use to enhance logistical capabilities.”
